Manchester tops the responses

Same sex relationships

On 25 April we published a request for your views on same-sex couples registering their partnerships on religious premises. The window of opportunity was very short but members in Manchester diocese rose to the challenge. 

In an amazing response, 48 dioceses returned comments from individuals and groups, involving 2619 people in total.  A staggering 263 of these were from this diocese so we thank all who contributed. 

A summary and a collation of responses are available and formed the basis of the Mothers' Union's official response to Government.

The response indicates that issues of marriage and relationships are of great interest and concern to Mothers’ Union members; and it allowed us to discuss and reflect on our objective of supporting and promoting stable marriage and family life.
