Wedding Fairs

Mothers’ Union has supported the diocese at wedding fairs held at Manchester Central and Event City. We talk to couples about their plans for marriage, help put them in touch with their parish church and provide literature to help with choosing hymns and readings for the marriage ceremony.

Mothers' Union members also offer to pray with couples in advance of their big day at the wedding fairs.

In partnership with the diocesan Communications Office, we have developed resources to encourage and enable members to be involved in wedding fairs at a local level. We hope that each Archdeaconry will hold a wedding fair every year, and that others will take place at deanery level.

Having a presence at a wedding fair is a partnership between clergy and Mothers' Union. Couples really appreciate the opportunity to talk to their local clergy about their wedding day.

Manchester Diocese is participating in the Church of England’s Weddings Project, which aims to attract more couples to marry in church, build a good relationship with them and care for them beyond the marriage ceremony.

Resources are available and packs and cards are available from the Mothers' Union shop in 90 Deansgate.

Resources for your local wedding fair

A range of nine lightweight, portable, pull-up zap stands have been produced that can be loaned out to produce a professional display for these local wedding fairs.

We also have a range of leaflets that can be given out to couples. Click here for downloadable examples.

Talk to Andrea Walsh on 0161 828 1427 to discuss your requirements and to loan out the stands and other resources. We can help by running a ‘tips and advice’ session for those taking part so that you know what to expect on the day.

Examples of the stands are illustrated below.
