It is with great sadness we have received the following letter from Canon John Sykes.

Just to let you know that my mother in law, Anne’s mother, died on Jan 3rd and her funeral took place yesterday at St Luke’s Heywood.

She was a Mothers' Union member for over 70 years and at the age of 105 was probably the oldest member in the Diocese. Up to February last year she hosted the Branch meetings in her home in Heywood.

She had worshipped at St Luke’s Heywood for over 100 years. At the age of 100 she was presented to the Queen in Manchester Cathedral and was the oldest recipient of the Maundy money. She was filmed in St Luke’s Heywood by ITV talking about her life, and had a private tour of the Coronation Street Set at Granada studios.
A lovely gentle lady whose faith was deep and reflected in her life.
