2120 bags and gallons of soup!

Published: 22 September 2011

With the fantastic support of the chaplaincy team at St Peter's House, members have this week handed out over 2000 bags to new students. Bags contain a few basic necessities (pasta, teabags, toothpaste, for example), collected by members in branches all over the diocese, and packed over two days by a valued team. The important element is the smile that accompanies each one, together with a few words of welcome.

Possibly to some the most welcome words are "free soup".  Another dedicated team has stirred pans of soup and sliced crusty bread to serve hundreds of students, new and returning (and let's not forget the washers up). A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved.
