Commissioning of York Provincial President

Published: 21 May 2013

Chris Haworth from Mother's Union reports on the commissioning of Barbara Taylor as Provincial President and affirmation of Catherine Hilton as Diocesan President.

"What a superb day we had in York Minster last week. We witnessed Barbara Taylor being commissioned by The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, followed by the Diocesan Presidents of the Province including our own President Catherine affirming their commitment to the membership within the Province of York and the promotion of and support for the worldwide work of Mothers’ Union.

In his sermon, the Archbishop likened the Province to ‘Allsorts’ and of course Terry’s – something good from Yorkshire!

You just needed to be there to feel the Mothers’ Union family, both in the Minster and in the streets and cafes, as we passed and chatted to members proudly wearing their Mothers’ Union badges.
